Person talk:John Eaton (3)

death date [9 August 2017]

"Various authorities cannot seem to agree on which of these deaths applies to this John Eaton."

Certain types of problems require use of probate documents if they are available, and they are in this case. Then users have no need of "various authorities" though I only saw cited a source that simply listed two deaths, which was accurate as far as it went, and have no idea who the "various authorities" are. The probate in 1691 had a wife Dorcas who he married in 1674 and is not this John Eaton. The probate in 1696 (Middlesex 6743) names wife Elizabeth and son John and seven daughters and perhaps others and appears to be this page, though an indepth study has not been done.

This incidentally appears to illuminate another error, namely that Elizabeth, the wife, did not die in 1688. The death record in Reading belong to the "w. Jonathan". --Jrich 17:40, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
