Jennifer, many of the records I have imported are mentioned as below which results in an incorrect record. I have to remove al data behind the | to get correct information. Is this an error in teh system or has it something to do with my upload of last week.
Wijns, Tietjerksteradeel, Friesland, Netherlands|Wijns, F, NL
- This is not an error. The gedcom upload system takes your place data and tries to match it to the correct place in the WeRelate database. The text that appears before the "pipe" | is the place title as it is in WR. The text after the | is the text from your gedcom. Sometimes users want the text to appear differently than the WR title. For example, Klaas preferred Nederland to Netherlands. Other users want the text to appear as the municipality was at the time of the event (Birdaard, Dantumadeel, Friesland, Netherlands|Birdaard, Ferwerderadeel, Friesland, Netherlands). Personally, I remove the Wijns, F, NL because I like to see the gemeente and full place hierarchy. So, since the place in your database says Wijns, F, NL - that is the text that displays on the page. --Jennifer (JBS66) 11:23, 25 May 2011 (EDT)
