Are Hendrika Josiena and Johanna Harmina the Same? [30 aug 2014]

i believe the merge is incorrect

see http://records.ancestry.com/johanna_harmina_schreurs_records.ashx?pid=93237011

and

http://records.ancestry.com/hendrika_josiena_schreurs_records.ashx?pid=8681769

what do you make of it?

best regards, Ron

Interesting. If they were different people, that would explain why the names were so different. But then they must have been twins.
I'll look at the Ancestry as soon as I'm on a machine from which I can log in. But note that these do seem to be public trees, i.e. user-submitted and not always sourced. (I've seen some trees, even late 19th and early 20th century ones, which were spectacularly wrong.)
I made the merge based on the notation in the huwelijk record.
If they were twins, is there a note in the churchbook that both were baptized 14 Oct? (It would not make sense for them not to be baptized together....)

I found the churchbook scan. It only mentions Johanna Harmina, nothing about twins.
I found the begraven scan. It doesn't mention a name, or even a gender. I think it's Frederik, who was only a month or so old.

There is a DTB index, and it has doop entries for Derk on the following dates:

17.07.1803 zoon Jan B---- (geboren 12 Jul, gedoopt 17 Jul). [Is your luck reading this name better than mine?]

12.10.1806 Berendina (geboren 9 Oct, gedoopt 12 Oct).

Jan B... = Jan Bernt

Bernt = Berent = Berend

I still believe the two names indicate two people. So yes they must have been twins. What about undoing the merge until we have proof of the opposite?

According to one of the Ancestry Family Trees which has Johanna Harmina dying in 1800, Frederic emigrates to Wisconsin and lives until 1892. That should be confirmable.
OK, he's got emigration records in 1847 and a census record for 1860. His wife may have been Geertsen Giers born 1805. So the 1798 birth must have been twins, despite that not being mentioned in the records. I'll straighten out the pages in the morning. --pkeegstra 01:17, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

I'm wondering if they told the registrar at the 1819 wedding that Hendrika Josiena and Johanna Harmina were one and the same (even though they aren't) to keep him from asking questions about why only Johanna Harmina was named in the doop record....

Frederik Schreurs [30 August 2014]

BTW, Frederik Schreurs married in Dragten! Any speculation how he ended up there? --pkeegstra 10:38, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

i think it is not possible for a person with Birth: Oct. 11, 1804 to be baptized 4 years earlier.
ergo: not the same person.

I think it's just an error; they switched the wife's birth for the husband's.... --pkeegstra 20:36, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
