Early speculation that she was the daughter of Deacon Samuel Wright is no longer considered supportable. See notes on the origin of Deacon Samuel Wright. - NEHGR V (1851) 72,315: shows Samuel: father of Hannah, deacon; cites the story of 'died in his chair suddenly' at Northampton. '..Thomas STEBBINS m a dau of Deacon Samuel Wright' [no name given!]
- GEN & BIOG NOTICES OF DESC OF SIR JOHN WRIGHT (Curtis Wright, 1915) indexes no STEBBINS, shows no dau Hannah. Has Samuel b. 1614, which is a problem for Hannah b. 1626. Deacon Sam son of Nathaniel and Lydia JAMES.
- WRIGHT-CHAMBERLIN GEN (E. M. Barber, 1914) p. 9 shows no dau Hannah of Sam1, who was actually son of John and Emfel ______.(and half bro of Nathaniel who m. Lydia JAMES). m. in Eng; first child b. 1627.
- Sam at Springfield, Northampton. No STEBBINS.
