That's the 1850 census. It can also be viewed for free on FamilySearch. One of the factors complicating the search for birth records is that the dates of birth in the US records are very inconsistent. --pkeegstra 18:53, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

I put FamilySearch citations for the 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses which include either Jacob or Gezina on this or this familypage as applicable. Arguably the 1828 birthdate for Gezina is better supported than the 1824 date. (All 3 censuses have 1828.) --pkeegstra 14:39, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

nice working together ! R woepwoep 15:19, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Look what I just found. (I think that's Yvette Hoitink's Achterhoek site....) Does this look like our Gesiena? Note that the bottom of the page cites emigration records. (Unfortunately it looks like that site has no Adolph van Braak.) Here are five 1847 emigrants from Winterswijk. --pkeegstra 18:20, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

excellent find !

if i search http://www.geldersarchief.nl/zoeken/?mivast=37&miadt=37&mizig=128&miview=tbl&milang=nl&micols=1&misort=dt%7Casc&mires=0&mip2=rotmans&mip5=meddo it appears that Winterswijk (Meddo) has only indexed death records. no wonder you / we / could not find them through the indexed registers.--woepwoep 19:24, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

i added the Rotmans family tree - it appears you have found the clue.

Many thanks! I see that Gezina's daughter is named after her sister Janna Berendina.

Can you tell if the dutchgenealogy.nl Achterhoek site is supposed to be an exhaustive list of persons from the Achterhoek? Would it make sense to check the 1818-1821 indices for Winterswijk and nearby municipalities for Adolph?

first question: i don't know second question: the town of Meddo is a very small town. people would stay from birth till death in this town, unless there were a reason to move out. so yes, checking Meddo and perhaps the Winterswijk records makes sense.

also i believe there is a relationship with the te Selle people who were living as teSelle in Minnesota see for example http://www.werelate.org/wiki/Family:Jan_Sikkink_and_Janna_Onnink_%281%29 their daughter Minnie married a te Selle

Death Date [24 August 2014]

The Kruizenga website and other family sources have a death date of 12 Apr 1874. I have not been able to find an official source to confirm that. --pkeegstra 18:55, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
