Person talk:Anthony Wingfield (2)

May I propose that we add the Wikipedia page in spite of errors? Indeed perhaps - BECAUSE OF - errors? I realize that serious genealogists don't find Wikipedia definitive, but many of us are more casual in our interest. It's important therefore, to know when/where Wikipedia is wrong. Of course I encourage contribution to and fixes of the Wikipedia content - but I would also suggest that the WP source be added and the defects described. --Jrm03063 10:17, 10 March 2011 (EST)

Jrm: thanks for this, and I agree. Last night I edited the WP article extensively. I think what happened there was the original WP article author had merged two "Anthony Wingfields" into one article. The article was therefore a mix of Sir Anthony, the soldier and courtier for Henry VII and Henry VIII with his grandson, Anthony, the Greek scholar for Elizabeth I. See talk pages. I've also linked the WP article back to these WR sites, so that the genealogical connections can be more easily seen - and perhaps to draw in a few WP readers to see WR! So I'll now add in the WP information into our page. Honnyng 12:36, 12 March 2011 (EST)

Further research in the unsourced paragraph re Mary Tudor - see Cassells Illustrated History of England; Vol.2 Also, likely to be in Acts of the Privy Council. Honnyng 19:39, 15 March 2011 (EDT)
