Middletown: will 6 May 1800 pr. Middletown 26 May 1800; estate appraised 24 Sep. 1800; m. Middletown 13 Oct. 1747 Hannah (Birdsey) Searles, b. “1728” “1738”, d, Middletown 3 Mar. 1819 “ in the 81st year of her age” or aged “90” as on her gravestone Mortimer Cem.; called “the widow Hannah Searles, step-daughter of John Birdsey” also Birdsey (Records of Hemstead, L.I., N.Y.; she may have married a third time, for the name Smith has been found added to her name, neither explained nor verified, but her gravestone states “Paddock” not Smith. Cabinet maker. Owned “Joiners shop” Middletown. “Mrs. Hannah Paddock Congdon says her granddaughter Mrs. Bacon had a desk he made”. Chosen committeeman and collector, First Church, Middletown 9 Dec. 1760. Land in Middletown conveyed to him by Samuel Warner, Sr. 24 July 1751 and by Andrew Bacon, Jr. 2 Apr. 1752. Sold ¼ acre in Middletown to Thomas Danforth 11 Sep. 1759 and also conveyed property in other deeds. Will mentioned wife Hannah, seven sons and daughter Eunice; William Paddock and “Sam Paddock” Executors; Joseph Boardman, Jefe Rich and Elyjah Brainerd, Witnesses. Middletown Probate Court.
