Winfred Davis left New Hampshire as a young man and came west to Montana. He worked as a ranch hand in Judith Basin and Tongue River outfits near Miles City, Montana. His nickname there was "Kid Davis." There is a family photo of him in full western gear with his sidekick "Black-eyed Kid." He also was a horse breaker, cattleman, guide, scout and many other trades. By all acounts, he was quite a character & could tell a good story. Family stories are told by his youngest daughter, Ivy Davis Little in her books about the Davis family.Copy of death certificate & obituary in Skamania Co. Pioneer held by researcher.
