"553. William5 Wells (Capt. John III4, John Jr.3, John2, Gov. Thomas1), born 14 February 1716 in Stratford, Connecticut (Barbour citing LR 5:15); and died before 29 November 1745 when witnesses proved his will. … William Wells left a will dated 30 October 1745, which names his wife Mary; three children to be brought up, namely William Wells, Mary Wells, and Benjamin Wells. The widow Mary is to receive half of the dwelling house and one-third of the personal estate for her natural life. The will appoints father-in-law John Benjamin and brother John Wells as executors; witnessed by Eunice Free, Nathan Curtiss and Eliphalet Curtiss. The witnesses proved the will on 29 November 1745 and the judge approved it on 3 December 1745. The inventory taken by Abel Birdsey and Daniel Porter includes several lots of land and totals £3117:10:06. John Benjamin presented the inventory in court on 4 February 1745/6.
