  4. 4.0 4.1 William is not listed among the heirs of Elias when they sell his land (see deed cited on his father's page). So it is presumed he died by 1744, but apparently after 1734 when Wyman says he was taxed. Of course, his participation would depend on Wyman having placed him in the correct family, which seems uncertain.
William's birth occurs after Elias Jr. married Abigail Waters, so there are two couples named Elias and Abigail at the time of his birth. The younger couple's first child is born 1714, which means there is room for them to have had a son William in very late 1712, almost exactly 9 months after their marriage in early 1712 and leaving plenty of time until 1714 when that first/next child was born. No son William is named in the probate of the younger Elias, either, so it is not known if this is so. Meanwhile the mother for the older couple would have been 45, nearing the end of child-bearing years, and William's birth is nearly four years after the previous child. The baptism record says "Mr Elias" which probably means Elias Sr. However, it is interesting that (p. 160 of Charlestown church records) "Elias Stone jun'r" renewed the covenant 4 Jan 1712/13, the exact day William was baptized.
