Facts and Events
In the name of God, Amen. I, William Soden of the Township of Monroe in the County of Middlesex and State of New Jersey being of sound mind, memory and understanding (for which blessing I thank God) do make and publish this my last will and testament, in manner and form following, that is to say: Firstly, it is my will and I do order all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my decease. Item, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Martha one third of all my household goods and furniture, also one third of the net proceeds of my personal property after all necessary debts & expenses are paid. Further it is my will that my Executors have secured in good Bond & Mortgage one third of the amount received from the sale of my real estate and Pay the interest of the same to my wife, Martha when the said interest is due & received by them during her natural life. Item, I give and bequeath unto my sister-in-law Hannah Tandorbe(?) One Hundred Dollars, I also give and bequeath unto my Grandson William Stillwell One Hundred Dollars. Item, I give and bequeath unto my children: John Dey Soden, Archibald Soden, Martha Ann Ervin (wife of Leonard Ervin), James Soden, and Mary Elizabeth Livezey (wife of Edward Livezey) all the remainder residue of my estate after paying the debts and legacies.
