       This Indenture made this third day of January in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and twenty seven.  Between Jacob Soden and Rebecca his wife of the township of South Amboy in the County of Middlesex and State of New Jersey parties of the first part and Samuel ROGERS of the County of Monmouth and State aforesaid party of the second part.   Witnesseth that they the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of seventeen dollars and sixty six cents to them in hand by him the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by them the said parties of the first part and themselves to be therewith satisfied contented and paid have granted bargained sold remised and released and forever quit claimed and by these presents do grant bargain sell remise release and forever quit claim unto him the said party of the second part his heirs and assigned all that right title interest possession property and demand whatsoever either in law or equity of in or to the one equal undivided seventh part of two certain lots of land situate in the said township of South Amboy near Cedar Brook which said lots was assigned and set off to the heirs of Lydia first wife of Jonathan Soden and daughter of William Applegate late of the township of South Amboy who died intestate and whose real estate was divided among his heirs at law (of whom she the said Lydia was one) agreeably to an order of the Orphans Court of the said County of Middlesex by Joseph M. Chesney,  Thomas Applegate and Frederick Stults Jun.(Junior)  Commissioners appointed by said Court for that purpose a map and description of which real estate is filed and recorded in the Surrogates Office of said County reference thereunto being had will more fully and at large appear. 
  To have and to hold the one equal undivided seventh part of the two aforesaid lots of land unto the sole and/only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever.  And he the said Jacob Soden doth for himself and his heirs covenant and agree to and with him the said party of the second part his heirs and assignes as follows to wit:
  That at the time of the ensealing and delivery of these presents he had in himself good right full power and lawful authority to grant sell remise release and quit claim the aforesaid one equal seventh part of the two aforesaid lots of land in manner as aforesaid and further that the one equal seventh part of the two said lots of land with their appurtenances against himself had against his heirs and against all and every person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim any right or title thereunto by from or under him or them or any of them shall and will warrant and forever defend by virtue of these presents him the said party of the second part in the quiet and peaceable possession of the same.
  In Witness whereof they the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals this day & year above mentioned.  Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of R. M. Chesney,  William M. Rue:  Jacob Soden (LS) her mark  Rebecca Soden (LS)

  Be it known that on the third day of January eighteen hundred and twenty seven before me Robert M. Chesney one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas in and for said County,  personally appeared Jacob Soden and Rebecca his wife the grantors of the foregoing instrument of writing and after informing them of the contents thereof they did acknowledge that they signed sealed & delivered the same as their voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposed herein mentioned.  And she the said Rebecca being by me examined privately and apart from her husband did acknowledge that she signed sealed & delivered the said instrument of her own free will and accord awtihout any fear threats or compulsion from her said husband.  Whereupon I do hereby certify that they said Jacob Soden and Rebecca his wife are known to me to be the grantors of the said instrument of writing.  Acknowledged before and certified by me  Robert M. Chesney.  Received in Clerks Office February 1,  1827  & recorded by Rudolph Clk.

Sodon and William Perrine, Administrators, and Thomas Dey and Elijah P. Suydam, Appraisers, being disinterested Freeholders on this fourth day of January 1870.
