Indenture, 12 July 1844 Between Charles Johnson of Frederick County, Maryland And William Short of same place Whereas by a decree of Frederick County Court sitting as a Court of Cancery on 18 Aug 1842 (Equity Docket 1802), Charles Johnson was authorized to sell real estate, and on 5 Nov 1842 he sold to William Short the following lots in the Village Point of Rocks, being parts of a tract of land called “The Mine Bank Farm” To wit Lots No. 17 & 18, Beginning to imbrace [sic] said lots No. 17 and 18 in one general outline at a stone planted at the NE corner of Lot 16 it being the Southern limit of the Baltimore & Ohio Rail Road and running thence with the said Southern limit allowing 3/4 degree for variation South 84 degrees E 8 perches to a stone now planted at the NE corner of said lot No. 18 then south 6 deg W until it intersects the northern limit of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal then by & with the said Northern Limit Westerly until it strikes a stone planted at the South East corner of Lot No. 16 then [ ] line of lot 16 to the place of beginning; Also Lots No. 73 and 84, Beginning to embrace the said Lots in one general outline at a stone planted at the SE corn of Lot 72, it being in the Northern Margin of Commerce Street, & running thence binding on Commerce Street south 84 and 3/4 deg E 60 ft to a stone planted, then at right angles N 5 and 1/4 deg E 132 ft to a stone planted in the southern margin of Clay street it being at the North East corner of said Lot 84 then binding on clay Street North 84 and 3/4 deg W 60 ft to a stone planted, then S 5/14 deg W 132 ft to the place of beginning reference being had to the plat of said Village in Liber HS No. 1 folios 231 & 232 For the sum of $135.75 Signed Charles Johnson Witness R.
