Sir William Scot of Clerkington

III. Sir William Scot of Clerkington, who had the honor of knighthood conferred upon him by King Charles I. and was appointed one of the senators of the college of justice, anno 1642.
He was one of the committee of estates and planters of kirks in March 1649, and one of the last committee in August that same year.
He married, 1st, a daughter of _____ Morrison of Prestongrange, by whom he had a son,
Laurence IV., his heir.
He married, 2ndly, Barbara, daughter of sir John Dalmahoy of that ilk, baronet, by whom he had three sons.
1. John IV., who carried on the line of this family, of whom afterwards.
2. James of Scotsloch in Ayrshire.
3. Dr. Rober Scot, dean of Hamilton, etc.
Sir William had also three daughters.
1. Barbara, was married, first, to _____ Stewart of Blackhall: 2ndly, to Sir William Drummond of Hawthornden
2. Agnes, married to Sir John Home of Renton.
3. _____, married to ______ Ogilvy of Murkle in Forfarshire.
He was succeeded by his eldest son, IV. Laurence Scot.
