William's family was on 1830 Green County, TN census, served on a jury in 1828 in Greene Co., TN & was a corporal, enlisting November 13, 1814 under Colonel Bayless & Captain Joseph Hale in the 4th Regt., East Tennessee Militia. By 1840 William was living in Johnson County, Missouri, where he served as a member of the first county court. The original Johnson County, Missouri land patent for William is dated May 6, 1839, another dated December 31, 1840.
