[edit] Revolutionary War Pension InformationInformation from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 4, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. : Pepper, William, born 8/23/1761 in Sussex County, Delaware; entered service 1788* in Delaware Regiment; moved abt. age 40 to Shenandoah County, Virginia, then to Pendleton County, Virginia, thence to Harrison Country, Virginia where granted Pension in 1833*; application for Pension witnesses James Radcliff, William W. Callahan, Isaiah Welch, Lawrence Hall & Thomas W. Nutter; clergyman Jesse H. Goss made affidavit there then, per County Justice of the Peace Jacob Coplin & County Clerk of Court David Davisson; woldier married ? after Revolutionary War (had known wife before Revolutionary War); soldier died 5/29/1841 when only surviving children Johnson; query letter in file says soldier entered service in Sussex County, Delaware, & married Nancy Johnson.
