- William McClelland appears to be a likely son of Joseph McClellan of Botetourt County, Virginia, who came to Lauderdale County, Tennessee to live with his daughter Mrs. John Nevill whose residence is in Lauderdale County Tennessee, per information in Joseph McClellan's Revolutionary War Pension Application File. Additional research is needed to prove this suspected relationship.
