Mr. WILLIAM LILFORD
The death occurred suddenly on Sunday at his residence, 60 Halstead St., Caulfield, of Mr. William Lilford, at the age of 81half years, following a heart attach Saturday evening. The late Mr. Lilford, who was one of the earliest settlers in the Tongala District - having taken up land there more than 50 years ago-was a native of South Australia, and came to Tongala from the Porcupine Ridge, Daylsfor (sic). He sold his Tongala property to Mr. H. W. Aspinall sixteen or seventeen years ago, and went to live in the city. For some years he was a councillor of Deakin shire. He was widely known and universally esteemed.
The late Mr. Lilford leaves a widow and two sons (William, Culcairn) and Algy (Caulfield Military Hospital). A third son (Leonard) died two years ago. Mrs. Lilford (widow) was formerly Miss Reynoldson, of Lancaster, a sister of Mrs. David Park. Another sister was the late Mrs. Walter Yuill. Councillor John Lilford, of Merrigum, is a brother.
The funeral took place at St. Kilda yesterday.
