For seven years William farmed with his brother George on Lot 25, Conc 7 Puslinch Twp. He then Bought Lot 27, Conc 10 which is now the Hoover Y.M.C.A. Park. He farmed there until his retirement. His first wife Mary died when the youngest child, Oliver was only 3 months old. Sarah Hood came to the farm as a housekeeper and married William in 1895. William served on the board of Freelton Methodist Church. Sarah and William initially retired to the village of Morriston, but later returned to Lot 29, Conc 10 where he died.
