Mary James' father died before she was 10. She was living with her brother William George Stephenson in Aberfoyle at the time of her marriage. Mrs Donald McCaig (nee McPherson) remembers her walking from his home on the west side of the Brock Road (Lot 15) to the Aberfoyle Methodist church to be married.
