He was a farmer and lived in Ridgeway, Henry Co VA. The Gilley family was from Turkey Cock Creek, Henry Co VA. Buck & Mary were 2nd cousins. Mary was the daughter of Joseph Gilley (son of Francis Jr). Buck's handiwork - he built a rock chimney in 1827 on a Cox home near Cox's Creek that still stands today. It belonged to one of his daughters who married into the neighboring Cox family. Military - it is thought that Buck was drafted into the War of 1812, but there is no proof. He lived to be 85.
