From "A Memoir of Henry Flood Bocock" "A prominent politician in Buckingham Coounty in his day. He represented the county in the General Assembly of the State. He owned the Mill near by on Davids Creek, Afterwards (called) Osborne's Mill, and he kept a store house at his residence at Prospect Hill. The old stone house stands there yet, the same building now used by Thomas S. Bocock as his "Book Room."

William Flood was a Captain in the late war in 1812 with England. His command was stationed at Norfolk, VA. After the War was over, he returned to Prospect Hill. He is buried in the family graveyard at Red Oak Hill.
