Phillip Conrad Crist, a native of Beuerback, in Nassau, Germany son of John Phillip Crist, master linen-weaver, came here last fall intending to visit his friend Mr. Bott, master smith fron Stockenroth in Instein. Wm Phillip Conrad Crist is a linenweaver apprentice and serves with Mr Thomas Saunders at the mouth of Mende (Mantua) Creek in Deptford TP. in Gloucester Co. Wm Phillip Conrad Crist came to the United States about the time of the Revolutionary War and enlisted under General Washington and served throughout the conflict. He was united in marriage in Pennsylvania to Miss Bott with whom he came to Perry County, OH, and spent the remaining years in persuit of agriculture .

LAND AND PROPERTY: Purchased a tract of land in Southampton Twp, FranklinCo.,P enn., Aug 1784, and sold it 31 March 1810. Moved to Ohio at that time.

All records prior to settling in Ohio, have the German spelling,"CHRIST".Apparantly to Americanize the name, Philip changed the spelling to "CRIST", upon settling in Ohio.

PHILIP CRIST'S WILL In the name of God, Amen. I Philip Crist of the County of Fairfield and State of Ohio am now of perfect mind, memory and understanding, thanks be to God. Do make this my last will and testament vz: First: I give and command my soul unto the hands of almighty God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent christian like manner at the discretion of my executors hereinafter named. And as to my worldy estate and property where unto it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give and dispose of in the following manner, that is to say First: Considering that I have given my son JACOB CRIST one quarter section of land in the thirtyfourth section in the eighteenth range and conveyed to him the same I give and bequeth to him one dollar in full of his share of my real and personal estate. Secondly: Having heretofore given unto and conveyed to JOHN CRIST a quarter oft he section number thirtyfour, aforesaid, I bequeth unto him the sum of one dollar as his part of my estate. Thirdly: Having in like manner given and bound to convey unto my daughter BETSY CRULL and JOHN CRULL her husband a quarter of the eighteenth Section in the seventeeth township and sixteenth range do give and be-queth unto them the said BETSY and JOHN one dollar as their share of my estate. Fourthly: Having given unto WILLIAM CRIST the N.E. corner of the 18th section in the eighteenth township and seventeeth range, in addition I will and bequeth two hundred and ninety three dollars. Fifthly: I will and bequeth unto my son DANIEL CRIST one hundred and twentysix dollars and twenty five cents with is in addition to $473.75 already paid him is his full share of by estate real and personal. Sixthly: I give and bequeth unto CATHERINA SUTTON, wife of LEVI SUTTON, my daughter one hundred and thirty one dollars and sixty five cents. Inaddition to $168.35 heretofore received, make her share in full of what I allow of my estate. Seventhly: I give and bequeth unto my daughter SARAH DRUM three hundred dollars.
