Heisterkamp's Annotated Landis Ferree Tree (as of 30 April 2004)

The Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine, Volume XXX, page 89, reports that the Lancaster Journal for 19 March 1803 carried the following announcement:

"Ran away on Sunday from the subscriber living in Pennsborough Township Chester county a Dutch servant named John Casper Myer age about 44 years. He is apt to tell that he was formerly a waiter to Gen. Kniphaufen at the time of the American revolutionary war. William Brinton"

Editorial Note - CAHIII - It seems that indentured servants running away was a common occurrence based on the frequency of similar advertisements.

The Brinton Genealogy, page 188, states that

William left his large estate to his daughters. Apparently, his father-in-law, John Ferree had advised him to take this action. John planned to make ample provision for Lydia, his only child (William's wife) and Ferree, his only grandson. Unfortunately, the other son, Joshua, did not live to adulthood.
