1821 - Granted probate, along with brother Benjamin and mother, for his father's will on 17 April.

1821 - Leased (lease and release document dated 16/17 April 1821) land known as Marsh Mill at Runham from Hon. Thomas William Viscount ANSON. (NRO 2017/3, 905X4)

1833 - Lease & release (with B BRANFORD) of land known as Marsh Mill at Runham to William HOWES. (NRO MC 2017/5, 905X4). Also 1833 - 1847 mortgage by appointment of marshes at Runham from Benjamin HOWES to William Womack BRANFORD. (NRO 2017/6, 905X4)

1838 - One of a number of names (including Benjamin BRANFORD) in the document concerning the lease and release of a malthouse in the parish of St Andrew, Norwich. (NOR N/TC/D1/550)/41.

1841 - Living in Caister with four year old son, housekeeper and female servant. Apparently widowed? No occupation recorded, aged 50.

1851 - Living in Godwick with second wife, four children from this marriage and a considerable household of servants (governess, cook, two house maids, groom). Farmer of 560 acres, employing 7 labourers.

1856 - Reconveyed marsh land at Runham, numbered 286 on tithe map, to William HOWES. (NRO MC 2017/12, 905X5)

1862 - Papers held in Holkham Hall archives re valuation at Godwick; ref E/F/7/84. (found on A2A)

[1867 - Another valuation (see 1862); ref E/F/7/85. Also lease to "Womack BRANFORD" (this one, or a son?) of a farm at Tittleshall; ref E/L/93 NOTE: there's an unattached Womack BRANFORD b. c1836 Yarmouth, found on 1851 census who may/may not be the same individual as "William" b. c1836.

1862 - Memorial Inscription: Section F No 3. In Memory of WOMACK WILLIAM BRANFORD born May 17th 1790 died October 31st 186_ / also ELIZABETH wife of the above born May 19th 1813 died July 25th 1875 - should be 1879 (from probate) (Records found inside Tittleshall Church). Their son's wife, Hannah Sophia, is also recorded on the same plot.

1863 - Probate: Effects under £20,000. Probate 27-03-1863 Will with codicil of Womack William BRANFORD late of Godwick Norfolk Esquire deceased died 31-10-1862 at Godwick aforesaid was proved at Norwich by the oaths of Womack BRANFORD of Godwick farmer and Thomas Frederick RINGER of Abbotts Ann Southampton Gentleman, two of the executors.

c1876 - Set up a charity for the benefit of the youngest widow with the largest family in Caister. (catalogue only - NRO PD 450/79)]

NOTES:

1. In Caister, 1841, two households away is the Rector, George Wm STEWARD (35) whose first son is named Christian Branford STEWARD. No wife included in his household. Possible connection with William?

2. May have had a daughter Ann who married William JOHNSON - their son, Tyson C/Fison Cornell JOHNSON (b. 1862 bapt at Chedburgh) is the nephew of Womack BRANFORD.
