There is no mention in family records done by his granddaughter of his existence after his wife remarried in about 1875 and moved to Joplin. But in 1876, a William E. Bingham married Mary Simons in Bremer Co, Iowa. Their census records over the years match what is known about William exactly, including his birthplace and year, and his parents births in Connecticut and New York. The death certificate from the William E. who died in Sanborn County, SD confirms the identity by naming his parents John and Sally.
