It is probable that Private Wilfred Pinney was killed in action during the 2nd Battle of the Scarpe, including the capture of Guemappe and Gavrelle, which took place on 23rd – 24th April 1917.

Wilfred Pinney was the son of Mr H.J. and Mrs E.Pinney, of Dorchester Road, Maiden Newton. Although born in Frampton he was living in Maiden Newton at the time of his enlistment at Dorchester.
