Internal hermorrhages from a crushed chest were the cause of death, Dr. C. B. Parker, deputy coroner of Allen county reported. Earl Lortie, 18, of near Monroeville, was reported in a serious condition from head and internal injuries at St. Joseph's hospital last night. Other passengers in the car, Kenneth Mavis, 20, and Donald Bowers, 23, a brother of the driver, were reported improving at the institution from lacerations, bruises and shock. There were no witnesses of the accident, according to statements obtained from the injured. One reported brakes of the machine appeared to lock, tearing the wheel from the driver's hands. The car careened down the highway, left the road and overturned several times. The four were admitted to St. Joseph's hospital early yesterday. Funeral Wednesday. Bowers, who attended high school in New Haven, was a machinist by trade. The four had started a drive early Saturday evening, apparently to visit Bowers' brother, Earl, who resides in Payne. No. 1, Monroeville, with whom the accident victim resided; two brothers, Donald at home and Earl Bowers of Payne; a half-sister, Mary Martha Bowers at home; two step-sisters, Margaret and Anna Hahn, at home; and the grandmother, Mrs. Martha Bowers of Payne, O.
