Lawrence and Nora were married by Rev. P. F. Veniard. Their sponsors were Celestinus Gladieux and Maria Coulardot.

Lawrence was a farmer in Jefferson Township in Allen County, Indiana, when he registered for the draft for World War I. He was married with three children. He was described as of medium height and medium build with brown eyes and brown hair.

Nora's obituary reads, "Mrs. Nora Virginia Bowers, aged 37, wife of Lawrence Bowers, died at her home in Jefferson township this morning of septicimeia. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Earl, Donald and Wilfred; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Gladieux; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Henry, Jr., of New Haven, and Bernadette and Genevieve at home. She was a member of the St. Louis Catholic church at Besancon, and the Roasary society. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Monday morning at the house and at 9:30 o'clock at the church with the Rev. Father Allgeier officiating. Burial in the church cemetery."
