Facts and Events
reported by vicki to have left Pomerania on 2 March 1890 for NY city. (Research):ZIESEMER, WILHELMINA (DITTBERNER) CertID# 1942-MN-003851 Date of Birth: Place of Birth: Mother Maiden Name: Date of Death: 07/02/1942 County of Death:DOUGLAS Hi, Gerry, I looked up the name Dittberner in a special German Name Dictionary. In Germany there are 560 Dittberners (telephon-directory). The names be descended from springs, in Old German: -born or -bronn. So the surnames Dittberner, Dittborner, Dietberner, Dietborner,Dettberner,Düttbrenner have the same origion of a statement of place. Per example: Dittberner > a place where a spring arose. The name comes out of the regions Upper-Germany, Bavaria,Saxony,Bohemia. In the telephon-directory the name is very often to be found in North-Germany, not so much in the South. North-Towns: Berlin 75, Hamburg 25,Bremen 10,Kiel 8, Lübeck 6. in Saxonia very seldom: Dresden 3, Leipzig 0. South-Towns: Munich 2, Frankfurt 7,Stuttgart 5, Mannheim 1, Freiburg 2,Karlsruhe 1, Nürnberg 0, Augsburg 1. And in Köln only 1 too. Klaushagen I found two places in Pomerania. The nearest one from Kieckow directly south-west air line distance 57 kilometer, near Wangerin (Wegorzyno), behind Dramburg. You will find a map clipping copy as supplement. Another 65 kilometer south-west-west from this place you will find the town Stettin.(Szczecin) The other Klaushagen is between Wollin and Greifenberg, directly west from Kieckow air line distance 90 kilometers, map copy as supplement. Of course they tend to marry near by, but it is possible, both places.May be former relationship or friends, may be to be soldiers in the prussian army and the friends sister, and so on. ( railways ). Well, I hope I could help you a little bit. I looked into my copies of >the church records of Alt-Liepenfier (parish Claushagen) and could neither find >Wilhelmena Caroline Dittberner's birth on 22 Mar 1860 nor her parents' marriage. Carl Dittberner's birth could not be checked, because the birth records of 1820 are not available. The surname Dittberners is rather rare in Germany and its origin concentrates - as far as I know - on the vicinity of Claushagen/Pommerania. Likely you >can find your ancestors in the church records of the adjacent villages. >Good luck, Dietmar herzliche Grüße, Gunther und Gisela Ziesemer (Medical):Was ill in bed since Feb 2, 1942 before death.
