Naturalization papers indicate Richard arrived 26 March 1890--no port is listed Original signature. filed 2 Nov 1892 2nd papers--Fred Mahlke and CHARLES HENNIG WERE THE WITNESSES. 4TH OCT. 1898 THAT'S ALL THE INFORMATION THAT WAS GIVEN. He would not be listed on the Ellis Island site as he came to early, but still could have come into NYC as another relative suggested.

He signed his marriage papers Richard Ziesemer. It listed his father as Laborer August Ziesemer and his mother as Caroline Marquard. HIs witnesses were August Hubner and Johann Kunde who were age 38 and age 35 respectively. Richard was 21 at time of his marriage and Wilhelminia 19. They lived in Kieckow and their marriage was recorded in GrossTychow, Belgard, Pommern, Prussia.

(Research):Information by Karen Vollrath in album of the Ages at Douglas County Historical Society stated Richard and Wilhemina left Pomerania on March 2, 1890 arriving in New York City with five children; Carl 1879-1965, August 1880-1952,Bertha 1882-1961, Albert 1884-1966 and Frank 1888-1968. They came to Leaf Valley where Carl Dittberner and August Dittberner owned a farm. Carl was Wilhemina's father and August her brother. Richard worked for several years for Frank Wussow on his farm for 50 cents a day. After several years of renting he bought a farm on Lake Vermont in Miltona township and built a two room log cabin and log barn. Richard and Wilhemina died in 1942 and Olga and Henry continued to farm the home place until Olga sold it in 1967 and moved to Lake Irene.

I talked to my father Wallace Ziesemer and I found out that Franz WilhelmZiesemer had two brothers Richard Ziesemer en Karl Ziesemer. These three brothers came from Germany and ship in in Hamburg Germany and sailed to the United States.

They all travelled, by train, to Chicago. In Chicago two of them travelled to Minnesota, Richard en Karl en Franz Wilhelm went to Illinois.

Richard Ziesemer is my great, great grandfather. The family line is following Richard Ziesemer (1), Albert Ziesemer (2), Ervin Ziesemer(3), Wallace Ziesemer,(4) Evert Ziesemer (5) and Kay (6a)and Kjell Ziesemer(6b)
