From the January 24, 1970, edition of the Cedar Rapids (IA) Gazette W.C. Johanningmeier Werner C. Johanningmeier, 65, of 1631 A avenue NE, died Friday after a short illness. Born Feb. 2, 1904, at Monona, he had lived in Cedar Rapids 27 years. Mr. Johanningmeier was a retired foreman at Iowa Manufacturing Co., a member of the Third and Fourth degree Knights of Columbus, past grand knight of the Elkader council, past navigator of the Fourth degree Knights of Columbus, past district deputy of the K of C, Catholic Layman's club, Immaculate Conception church council and a Red Cross instructor. Surviving are his wife, Marie; a daughter, Mrs. Hal W. Olmsted, both of Cedar Rapids; five brothers, William, Elmer and Arlo, all of McGregor; Wesley of Davenport, and Alvin of Monona. Services: Tuesday 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception church by the Rev. Roger E. O'Brien. Father O'Brien and St. Rita Circle will recite the Rosary Monday at 7:30 pm and the Knights of Columbus at 8 pm, both at the Stewart funeral home. The FuJen club will recite the Rosary Monday at 2:30 pm. Friends may call Sunday after 5 pm. |
