BIOGRAPHY (from Child's Gazetteer for Jefferson County, NY):

Watson T. Seaver was born in Moretown, Vt., in 1802, and in 1818 came with his parents to Antwerp. December 26, 1822, he married Almira, daughter of Thomas Wait, formerly of Waitsfield, Vt., and they have had seven children, four of whom survive, namely: Luana, Freeman W., John W., and Maria N. Luana married, first Scott S. Clark, by whom she had a daughter, and second, John M. Eggleston, by whom she had a son, Richmond H. Almira Seaver, widow of Watson T., is living with her son, John W., aged 83 years. Maria N. married Victor Kitts. Lovina A. Keith has lived with her grandmother, Mrs. W. T. Seaver, since she was four years of age.

CENSUS:

In the 1830 United States Census, Watson Seaver (indexed as "Walton Seaver") was a head of household in Antwerp township, Jefferson County, New York. The household included one free white male aged 20 to 30, one free white female under age 5, one free white female aged 5 to 10 and one free white female aged 20 to 30 (1830 United States Census, Jefferson County, New York, Population Schedule, Antwerp, Page 098, FHL Microfilm 0,017,152).

In the 1850 US Census, the Watson Seaver family resided in Antwerp, Jefferson County, New York. The household included Watson Seaver (age 48, a farmer, $200 in real property, born VT), Truman Seaver (probably Freeman Seaver - age 19, born NY), John Seaver (age 16, born NY), Almira L. Seaver (age 44, born VT), Margaret Seaver (age 10, born NY) and Maria Seaver (age 4, born NY) [FHL Microfilm 0,017,091, page 194, dwelling #1297].

In the 1860 US Census for New York, the Watson Seaver family resided in Antwerp, Jefferson County, New York. The family included Watson Seaver (age 54, farmer, born VT, real property of $4,000, personal property of $631), Elmara Seaver (age 53, wife, born VT), Freeman Seaver (age 29, son, farming, born NY), John Seaver (age 26, son, farming, born NY), Maryette Seaver (age 20, daughter, born NY), Mariah Seaver (age 14, daughter, born NY), Jane Clark (age 13, adopted daughter, born NY) and Lovina Seaver (age 5, adopted daughter, born NY). In the 1880 US census, the remnant of this family resided in Antwerp, Jefferson County, New York. The family included John Seaver (age 45, born NY), mother Almira Seaver (age 74, born VT), brother Freeman Seaver (age 48, born NY), sister Maria Seaver (age 34, born NY) and niece Lavina Keith (age 25, born NY).
