    18 Mar 1843: Nancy Cheney, widow of Wales Cheney, late of Orange deceased intestate, declines administration and requests Levi Mayo be appointed.
    3 Apr 1843: Inventory of Wales Cheney late of orange deceased intestate: real: $840, persona: $397.40, by Zina Goodell, Salmon Howard, Jonah Goddard.
    27 Aug 1843: Petition of Nancey Cheney of Orange, widow of Wales Cheney late of Orange, for assignment of dower.
    15 Sep 1843: Severed real estate of Wales Cheney which lay in common with the deceased's father Nathan Cheyeny of Orange, then set off to Nancy Cheney widow one third.

  5. There are two cousins named Wales Cheney of similar age. There is a death record submitted to the state from Orange in 1843 (here) giving an age of 41, which makes it look like the son of Nathaniel, but the gravestone for this date gives an age of 36, so it is the son of Nathan. Meanwhile, the gravestone of the son of Nathaniel explicitly gives his birthdate as 1801, death date 1881.
