Vera Teresa Jaynes was born on 03 Jul 1895 in Oconee County, South Carolina. She was Don's aunt, and when his mother died, Don stayed with his Aunt Vera part of the time. She married Fred Hope and they had 2 sons, Gordon and Darwin, who were great playmates for Don when he was there. Once, he and Darwin bought a goat with money they'd earned helping Uncle Fred paint a house, and they brought the goat back home on the street car and trained him to pull them in a cart. Aunt Vera was the source of much of what we know about the John Jaynes family. She died in Dec 1979 in Irving, Dallas, Texas.
