Early Land Acquisition in Orange County, VA
Acquisition of Land from Orange County, Virginia Records:
- Pages 67-68. 27 Aug 1741. Edward Haley of St. Thomas' Parish, Orange County, to my daughter Valentine Haley now wife of James Herndon of Orange County. For love, good will and paternal affection. 120 acres being the remainder of 170 acres formerly at my request laid off by James Cox for my son David Haley, an infant under age, and described in the platt; 170 acres part of my tract of 980 acres... at Charles Oakes' and Benja. Haley's corner... corner of my son Thomas Haley... my said son Benja's line... out of which 170 acres I sold to Richard Bradford 50 acres by deed 28 May 1741. (signed) Edward (E H) Haley.
