4 brother Carruthers came to the USA around 1740 , these four are found in PA, VA and NC. The 5th brother James had 3 son and one daughter that can to the USA in the 1760, James died in Ireland. The 4 brothers and there wives : John & Sarah Neely Carothers PA, Hugh & Sarah Purvaviance Carothers Va,NC., William & Margaret McCroskey Carothers Va, and Robert & Margaret Gillespie Carothers NC.. The Robert & Sarah Sproul/ Elizabeth Farquahar Carothers lines of PA. are cousin , hows the connection. of the 4 lines mensioned looking for these researchers, John and Hugh are proven Brothers and possible twins born 1725 or 26 .
