Milton - On Friday afternoon, Deacon Saunders received a telegram from Milwaukee announcing that his son Truman W. Saunders had suffered a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. and Mrs. Saunders took the night train for the city, but arrived too late, their son dying before their arrival. The sad news sent a thrill of horror through our community, where the deceased was well known and had a large circle of friends and acquaintances. The deceased spent a number of years as a student here, and graduated here. After his graduation at Williams College he became a member of our College Faculty, and remained here in that capacity until he took up his residence in Milwaukee. During his connection with the college he made an extensive acquaintance with those from abroad who were students, and among his fellow citizens. He was highly esteemed for his true manliness through culture and courteous manners. His untimely death, occurring as it did when he was entirely alone, without the kind offices of wife, mother, father or friend makes it one of the saddest occurrences ever brought to our notice. His heart broken wife and grief stricken relatives have the hearty sympathy of our community in this their hour of sorrow. President Whitford and Prof. W. F. Place, a classmate of the deceased, attended the funeral. It is probable that the remains will be brought here for interment. The following clippings are from the Milwaukee Wisconsin, and Republican and News:

'Truman W. Saunders, an account of whose sad case appeared in last night's Wisconsin, died at 2 o'clock this morning. It is now supposed the bursting of a blood vessel in his brain resulted from violent retching as undigested food which had been thrown from his stomach was found by the bedside. The physicians say that the effusion of blood was so violent that Mr. Saunders could not have been saved had medical attention been summoned at the moment the vessel broke.

Mr. Saunders, who was born in Rensselaer County, N. Y., was one of the purest and most honorable and faithful members of the Milwaukee bar. His college career was brilliant and his record as a professor in Markham Academy first class. He was a graduate of Alfred University, N. Y., Milton College and Williams College, and in School and at his profession was a conspicuous and untiring student. He had practiced law three years in Milwaukee, and for some time had been the trusted attorney of the Wheeler & Wilson Manufacturing Company.

His wife with her father and little child will arrive from the east tomorrow; his parents arrived from Rock County today.

Mr. Saunders was prominent member of the Allen Council, Royal Arcanum, from which order his widow will receive $3,000.
