A probate document for the estate of Peter Coffin Jr., dated 3 Feb 1708, states that Peter's widow, Elizabeth (Starbuck) (Coffin) Barnard, died "four days after the death of Tristram Coffin, only son of Peter". [Note: Source:Nantucket, Nantucket, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of Nantucket, Massachusetts to the Year 1850, p. 5:38, says "Barnard, Elizabeth, w. Nathaniel, formerly wid. Peter Coffin Jr., d. Nathaniel Starbuck and Mary (Coffin) [died] ---, 1706." So Tristram's death would be in the same time-frame.]

  3. Source:Nantucket, Nantucket, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of Nantucket, Massachusetts to the Year 1850, p. 5:187, says "Coffin, Tristram, h. Hannah (d. John Brown and Rachel), s. Peter and Elizabeth (Starbuck), 13: 12m : 1730. PR38." This date comes from PR38, the genealogical records of William C. Folger, and is clearly an error. The same date is given for the death of Tristram's widow, Hannah (Brown) (Coffin) Pinkham, which is impossible if she survived him and remarried to Jonathan Pinkham. That the death probably belongs to her, and not Tristram, is shown by the fact that Jonathan Pinkham remarried to Margaret Arthur in 1731. Also, see the probate documents cited aboveS2, which indicate that Tristram died in 1706 and Hannah had married Jonathan Pinkham by 1708.
