    Bigelow, Lieut. Timothy, Hartford. Inventory taken by Thomas Welles and John Edwards. Will dated 9 July, 1746.

    I, Timothy Bigelow of Hartford, do make this my last will and testament: I give to my wife Abigail Bigelow, and to her heirs forever, my servant maid Ann and 12 sheep, with 3 of my beds and the furniture thereof, and also £100 worth of moveable estate (to be delivered to her out of my moveables as she shall choose at inventory price). I also give her the use of one piece of land on which I now dwell, with the buildings thereon standing, sd. land I bought of Daniel Edwards of Hartford; with the use of one other piece of land bounding east on the Great River, west on the road, north on the land belonging to the heirs of Moses Cook decd., and south on the land of Thomas Hooker; and also my lott of land that I bought of Joseph Farnsworth of Hartford, commonly called my Brick Hill lott; and also the use of my team and team tackling. All this I give her the use of during the time she shall remain my widow. I give to my son Hezekiah my yearling colt. I also give to my four sons, Hezekiah, Timothy, John and James, and to their heirs forever, £180 each at inventory price, only my will is that what shall be expended on my son Timothy for his support during the time of his apprenticeship shall be paid out of his portion. I also give to my three daughters, Abigail, Ann and Martha, £60 each, all which shall be paid to them at the age of 21 years or marriage. And that all the residue of my estate, after the legacies aforesd. have been first paid, shall be divided amongst all my children in proportion to the legacies heretofore given to them. I appoint my wife Abgail Bigelow sole executrix.

    Court Record, Page 42—7 July, 1747: The last will and testament of Lt. Timothy Bigelow was now exhibited by Abigail Bigelow, widow and executrix. Will proven and ordered to be recorded.

    Page 15 (Vol. XVI) 22 February, 1750-1: Capt. Daniel Goodwin, in right of his wife Abigail, executrix to the last will and testament of Lt. Timothy Bigelow, now moves to this Court that freeholders may be appointed to distribute the real estate of the sd. deceased: Whereupon this Court appoint Roger Wolcott, Jr., Joseph Talcott, Esq., and Mr. Ozias Goodwin, of Hartford, to distribute the estate to the heirs according to the will of the decd. Also, set out to the widow her dower, and make return of their doings to this Court.
