Thomas Skillings was a witness against James Smith Sr in Salem Court "31:1:1640" [31 Mar 1640] suggesting he was born before 1619 to be of legal age.

  2. Thomas couldn't have been b. 1624 in Topsfield, MA as it wasn't settled until 1635 and not incorporated until 1650. Since a birth prior to 1619, maybe as early as 1614, is likely, Thomas Skillings couldn't have been born in New England. Skillings/Skillins were seen in Ireland, Scotland as well as England but no connection of this Thomas to any of these groups has been proved yet.
