- ↑ Dryden's "Cemetary Records of Somerset County" gives a birth date of 25 Oct 1789 for Thomas SHORES. Hammel uses the same date, probably obtained from Dryden's Cemetary compilation.
Unfortunately, this date conflicts with the date of Levin SHORES birth, as calculated by the author from the information given on his tombstone, which could be either February 19, 1789 or February 1790, depending on the interpretation of the phrase "eighty years". In the absence of direct evidence to the contrary, I suspect the accuracy of the Thomas SHORES' alleged birth date and have, therefore, changed it to the more biologically tenable date of 25 Oct 1788.
