Thomas Ryan b: 1747..? in Ireland apparently came to America as a young man with his parents and possibly two brothers. He married Katherine Inskeep McColloch (several spelling variations to this name) in 1768 in Virginia, the adopted daughter of John and Sarah Inskeep McColloch. Thomas was murdered by Indians at Short Creek near present day Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia.
He fought in the Revolutionary War out of Virginia, I believe that he served in the 8th Virginia Militia Regiment, but appears on several other regiment lists too because of Payroll reasons/?, such as the Pittsburgh Pay Rolls, something about having to go there to get paid(?).
His brothers James Ryan (1738-1832) and John Ryan ( -1781) were all early settlers of Hampshire County, VA. Both their names appear on the "Pay Rolls of Captain John Harness, October 17, 1775, Revolutionary War. They were both along with Thomas Ryan born in Ireland.
