Thomas Pierce [#72], s/o Thomas Pierce [#23, p. 26, and first wife Eliza ---], b. Woburn 12 [sic] Feb 1670, d. bet. 1704 and 1708, m. 27 Feb 1692 Mary Wyman. "Res. Woburn, and removed to Plainfield, Conn., where was Deacon of the 1st Church in 1742."
[Note: Thomas Pierce bought land in Plainfield in 1690, signed a petition in 1699 leading to the establishment of a church in 1705 [ibid, p. 99], but was "the first married man that died in town" [ibid, p. 25], so certainly was not chosen deacon in 1742. William Douglas, Jacob Warren and Joshua Whitney were the first deacons [ibid, p. 25], so he probably was never a deacon, at all, since he must have died very soon after the church was formed, if not before.]
