From "Pedigree of: Elisha Paine, 1658-1735/6" http://www.concentric.net/~pvb/GEN/epain.html::

"...Thomas Paine died at Eastham, MA on Aug. 16 1706, as an "aged" man, according to the Hopkins genealogy. The younger Thomas is thought to be the son of an elder Thomas Paine, who settled in Yarmouth in 1639. Evidently both the elder Thomas and his son, the younger Thomas, emigrated from England prior to 1639, when the younger Thomas was 10 years old. The younger Thomas lost the sight of one eye from an arrow. He was made a Freeman of the Plymouth Colony on June 1, 1658. He and Giles Hopkins served as surveyors of highways for Eastham in 1662. Thomas was also Treasurer, Clerk and a Selectman of Eastham, and in 1671, the younger Thomas was named Water Bailiff of Plymouth Colony.

Thomas Paine the younger was a cooper and builder of mills. In March of 1696 he bought a home in Boston and represented Eastham in the Massachusetts General Court until Oct. 13 1697, when he sold his Boston home and moved back to Eastham."

Thomas Payne of New Plymouth, cooper acquits to George Bonum, husbandman Odd that I've never read a single secondary source citing a record for Thomas Payne the younger as early as 1652 before I found this. But since it says he is a cooper this must be the younger Thomas Payne.
