Facts and Events
Long known as one of the energetic devotees of farming in Franklin twp, where he had large and valuable holdings, as well as an active participant in movements of civic interest. Buried at Middletown Pioneer Cemetery. Continuing toward back of cemetery after gravesites for Eupheme & Abraham, do not turn left at 1st turn, continue straight. Drive past one tree on left and 2 on the right. Continue to the far back of the cemetery. Go about halfway along after the second left (which you also don't take). Look to the left and see a cedar tree. Look to the right and see a monument for Aaron Longstreet. Look to the left and about 35 feet to the left of the drive is a monument for McClure. Latitude 39 degrees 30.6625 Longitude 84 degrees 23.7594 Likely born in the family farmhouse on what is now called Shaker Road. He was likely baptized at the Presbyterian Church at Dick's Creek. Lived "on the home place" until they purchased a farm, or land for a farm, in the 1860's, on the old Irish Road, today's State Route 122, a couple of miles east of Blue Ball. This was eventually the home of their son, Howard. (Was it also the home of Howard's son, Scott Holmes McClure (a first cousin to Ellis McClure)? References
