1901 census Marchbank Cottage Armadale

Thomas first travelled to the US in 1910, and joined his sister Margaret and Brother David. He must have returned to Scotland, because he was married there in 1923. Thomas' marriage license lists his occupation as House Joiner, and his address as Mount Stewart, Station Road, Armadale. The 1930 Census from Yonkers, NY, lists his occupation as carpenter. At that time, Thomas and Margaret lived in an apartment on Radford Street (number 115) with their two sons. Margaret wasn't born yet. It appears they lived next door to David Ross and his family. His citizenship papers list his complexion as fair, with blue eyes, brown hair, height 5' 9" and 165 pounds.

Thomas was naturalized in 1934 in Yonkers, New York.
