Thomas (Joseph 6), born February 12, 1739, in Easton; died February 9, 1798; married March 22, 1764, Mary Manley, born March 16, 1742, in Easton, died in Weybridge, Vt., March 31, 1839, daughter of Ichabod and Experience (Phillips) Manley. Thomas started from Easton for Vermont with team and one son, and died suddenly on the way, at Charlestown; the body was take back to Easton for burial. Later the whole family moved to Vermont.
Thomas served as sergeant through the Revolutionary War, enlisting first December 7, 1776, from Easton, in Capt. Randall's company, Col. George William's regiment, serving a month in Rhode Island. We next find his name as sergeant on the pay roll of Capt. Josiah King's company, Col. John Daggett's regiment, August 28, 1778, warrant to pay dated January 31, 1783. On July 27, 1780, he enlists again for Rhode Island service. He next served in Capt. Matthew Randall's company, Col. Abiel Mitchell's regiment, "Raised agreeable to an act of the Great and General Court of the State of Massachusetts, June 22, 1780, to reinforce the Continental Army." This is undoubtedly the Thomas who was out at the Lexington alarm in Capt. Macy William's company of "Minnit Men" from Easton, April 19. 1775.
