I Thomas BRACKEN of Manahan Township County of York and State of Pennsylvania yeoman do make this my last Will and Testament in maner following _ _ Impt _ _
I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Martha One Horse, One Cow, One Feather Bead and Bed Cloathes; one Spinning Wheel and all my Sheep togeather with her Mentainance out of the Rent of my place. -:Item, I give and bequeath unto my Son William or his Heirs Thirty Pounds to be Paid after the sale of my Real Estate _
Item, I give and Bequeath unto the Heirs of my Son John deceased, the Sum of Thirty Pounds to be Paid them after the sale of my Real Estate _
Item, I give and bequeth unto my Son Thomas or his Heirs Thirty Pounds to be paid after the sale of my Real Estate _
Item, I give and bequeth unto the Heirs of my Son James BRACKEN deceased the Sum of Thirty Pounds to be paid them after the sale of my Real Estate.
Item, I give and bequeth unto my Daughtor Hannah or her Heirs Wife to Nicolas BISHOP the Sum of Twenty Pounds to be paid after the sale of my Real Estate _
Item, I give and bequeath to my Daughtor Mary or her Heirs Wife to James GUTTORY the Sum of Twenty Pounds to be paid after the sale of my Real Estate _
Item, I give and bequeth unto my Daughtor Martha or her Heirs Wife of Archibald McGREW the Sum of Thirty Pounds to be paid her or them aftor the sale of my Real Estate.
Item, I give and bequeth unto the Heirs of my Daughtor Margret deceas'd late wife of William McGREW the Sum of Twenty Pounds to be paid them after the sale of my Real Estate _
Item, I give and bequeth unto my Daughter Jean Wife of Matthew DILL the Sum of Twenty Pounds to be paid aftor the sale of my Real Estate _
Item, I give devise and bequeth in Trust unto John COLLANCE &c William GODFERY Church Wardens for the Time being & their Sucksesors forever the Sum of Thirty Pounds Lawful Money which shall be put to Interest and the Money arising from s'd Sum shall be laid out for the use of the poor belonging to the Christ Church in Huntington Township & County of York at the discreation of the Vestry of s'd Church for the Time being & their Successors for ever to be paid to them after sale of my Real Estate _ My Will is that my Real Estate be Rented and the Money be applied for the mantainance of my Wife during her Life, or as mutch of it as my Executors shal think fit to apply to that use, and the remainder if any to be Equaly Divided with the rest of my Estate _ I order my Real Estate to be Sold as soon as Conventiently may be after the deceas of my Wife at the discreation of my Executors and the Money ariseing from the Sale of my Whole Estate Real & Personal after paying my lawful Debts, Funeral Expences & the Expences attending the Execution of these presents, then to be applied to pay the above Legaceis, & if any Money remains I order it to be Equally Divided among all my Children or their Heirs, I impower my Executors to Sell and make as Good a Title to the Purchacer as I Cold do.
And I Contitute and apoint my Trusty and well beloved Son-in-law Archibald McGREW & Son William BRACKEN Executors of ths my last Will and Testament avoking all other Wills by me heretofore made, declairing this to be my last will and Testament.
In Testamony whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand & Seal this Sixth day of Aprile in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred & Seventy Nine 1779. _

Before me Archibald McCLEAN Esquire Register for the Probate of Wills and Granting Letters of Administration in and for the County of York in the State of PennsylvaniaPersonally came John McGREW and Martha CARSON Two of the SubscribingWitnesses to the foregoing Instrument of Writing, and on their Solemn Oaths in the Common Form of Law Do Severally say That they were personally present and saw and heard the within and before Named Thomas BRACKEN make his mark unto and Seal and Publish the before written Instrument of Writing as and for his Last Will and Testament, and That at the Time of the doing thereof, he the said Thomas BRACKEN was of Sound and disposing Mind, Memory and Understanding to the best of the Knowledge and Belief, and that they did also see William BEALS the other witness Subscribe his Name as a Witness thereto at the Same Time. _

    Thomas Bracken was born on 21 March 1706 in Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware, United States. He was the son of William Bracken (1671-1749) and Hannah Booker Bracken (1677-1749).

    Thomas married Martha Green (1706-1780) at Wilmington, New Castle County, DE on Dec. 21, 1721. Martha was the daughter of Edward Green (1684-1746) and Mary Bowen Green (1687-1766).

    Thomas and Martha Green Bracken were the parents of the following 14 known children: Martha Jean, Thomas, William, John, Margaret, Mary, James, Samuel, Issac, Edward, Jean, Susannah, Hannah and Reid.

    This Thomas, 1st son of the immigrant William, was a resident of New Castle County, Delaware, until sometime after 1749. He sold land to John Bohannon in 1750 in Wilmington, Delaware. He moved to Huntington Township, York County, Pa., about this time. Sources:
