Facts and Events
THOMAS L. BOICOURT, came from France in 1770 at the age of thirty years. He had graduated from a medical college in the old country and came to America to commence the practice of medicine. He studied medicine two years among the Indians to learn their ways of doctoring. He served as surgeon in the Revolutionary War. After the war was over he soon gained an extensive practice. In his constant practice, he was unavoidably irregular in his eating and sleeping and other habits. He took the dyspepsia in such a form that no food would remain on his stomach and he literally starved to death in 1789.SOURCE: Evelynn Hunt Taylor - 1997 (Edward branch - Indiana/Nebraska) via Jean Boicourt |
